Our History

Our story starts in 2010, when our founders, Cameron Gillespie and Lachlan Faulker, moved to the UK to found Stiltz in the quaint countryside of Berkshire. We made and installed our first-ever home lift in 2013 in the UK and later opened our US office later that year. We also started shipping our home lifts to Germany, France, and the Netherlands.

Following the success of our flagship product – the Duo Home Lift – we released our upgraded Duo+ Home Lift model in 2016. We also expanded overseas, launching our lifts in New Zealand, India and Malaysia.

While our customers loved our Duo range, we knew that there was more work to be done to help those with more restricted mobility. That’s why we introduced our Trio+ Home Lift to the market in 2018, allowing wheelchair users to travel effortlessly between floors.

Since then, Stiltz Home Lifts has grown from strength to strength, collecting the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, moving into a brand-new head office in the West Midlands in the UK, opening a new manufacturing plant, and launching our first franchise in the USA.

At Stiltz Home Lifts, our mission is simple: to empower people to live independently in the comfort of their own homes. Our life-changing home lifts allow our customers to stay in the homes they love for longer. 

But it’s not just about the lifts we create – it’s about the experience we provide. From your initial enquiry to post-installation care, we put our customers at the heart of everything we do. We manufacture our lifts in-house, keeping control over every detail to deliver reliable, life-enhancing products.

We envision a world where installing a home lift is as straightforward as fitting a household appliance, allowing people to live without limits and removing barriers to independent living.

Our home lift is a game changer. Now, I don’t have to transfer on and off a stairlift, especially at the top of the stairs, which always felt unsafe. Plus, if I forget something upstairs or downstairs, I can get back quicker by getting in the lift. And the other thing is how the lift looks. It’s nice and contemporary so it matches our new home. That was one of the reasons we bought it, not only did it need to be functional, it needed to look great as well. And it certainly does; it ticks all the boxes.

Andy McErlean is a para pickleball champion and has been a full-time, active wheelchair user since the age of 19.

When Andy and his wife, Cathy, finished an extensive conversion of their dormer bungalow to a two-storey, four-bedroom house, Andy wanted a solution to make getting between floors much more manageable.
