Would you like to be part of a club where you can access discounts galore?  A club which offers savings on travel, entertainment and even boring stuff such as insurance? If you’re 65 or over, congratulations because you’re already a member!

A world of later life discounts is out there, all you need to do is look. And while we all love a bargain, it’s not just about the savings. They embody a collective recognition of the invaluable contributions made by you; rewarding you with potential life experiences now you finally have time to get out and enjoy them! Don’t be shy; make sure you apply.

We’ve put together this handy Stiltz Homelifts guide to the discounts available across travel, leisure and health. What are you waiting for?

Travel: time to get out and about

If you’re no longer working all hours make some time to get out and about. Let’s start with the most famous freebie of them all – the bus pass. It’s yours for the taking when you reach state pension age, just apply via your local council offices or through their website.

There’s also the Senior National Railcard and a Coach Card meaning you’re going places for a fraction of the price. Mini-breaks, spa weekends, or a week walking in the country are suddenly affordable and within reach again. So, get those suitcases packed pronto!

Leisure: Culture and wellbeing

Taking time out for fun or culture can come at a price so here are some affordable cultural incentives to hopefully entice you out.

Cinema has undergone a renaissance in recent years; swanky seats, bars, and fine food are replacing popcorn and cola. The main chains – Vue, Empire, Showcase, and Odeon all offer something for seniors as do many of the smaller independent venues. The Everyman also serves cake and a drink, so no excuses for not seeing all the latest Oscar-winner or one of the more esoteric offerings.

Theatres nationwide provide seniors’ discounts, even the National Theatre in London and the Royal Shakespeare Company take part. The National Trust, English Heritage, and RHS always serve up a great day out, each with its own discount system in place. It’s the same with museums and art galleries across the UK; just remember to look before you book.

Leisure centres are a social hub for active seniors with many taking the opportunity to attend dance and aquarobics classes. Some centres even offer specialist personal trainers for those who want to increase muscle strength. Using leisure centre facilities off-peak can provide a less frenetic experience, and some even have spa facilities, perfect for mid-week indulgence.

Health: medical and insurance

Not very exciting, but most welcome are the free prescription charges which come into effect when one reaches the age of 60. A YouGov study shows a fifth of over 60s take more than five prescription drugs, so it’s a huge saving for many people. You can also book a free annual eye test to keep your well-being in good shape.

Valuing your freedom

Stiltz Homelifts also provides invaluable freedom and exceptional value for money. This newfound freedom of having a domestic lift in the home comes from living well without the worry of using the stairs, while finding value in the savings compared to expensive, later-living apartments.

Join the Stiltz club and enjoy the benefits – we’d love to have you as a member.
