Most public places such as shops and restaurants make their premises accessible for wheelchair users because in many cases it is law. This includes access ramps, accessible washroom facilities and elevators where there are only stairs to get to another floor.
Now, more and more people who use a wheelchair are discovering that they can make a difference to their home lives as well by installing a domestic wheelchair lift. This means that there is no need for them to be restricted to the downstairs area of their homes anymore or to contemplate a move to a ground floor flat or bungalow.
A wheelchair lift for the home can be more a realistic and affordable option than might be first thought and it is a solution that can give wheelchair users the independence to move around their own homes freely.
There are many types of home lift solutions available on the market currently including home platform lifts, wheelchair stairlifts and more, but the model we offer at Stiltz is our Trio Lift – a fully self-supporting structure through floor lift.
The lift is 1040mm wide and 1080mm deep, which is larger than the Stiltz Duo Lift – our original domestic lift and driven by a braked gear motor drive system that is positioned at the top of the lift and out of sight – powered by a 220 – 240v AC 13 amp power supply.
It can carry a maximum load of 240kg and no pit is required as the lift travels using a dual rail system. The lift has a 100mm step down to the floor and has all the features that are included as standard with the Duo Lift.
Aside from the technical specifications, what wheelchair users can gain most from this type of home lift is the freedom to travel to the upstairs area of their homes and back downstairs again unaided.
This type of wheelchair lift is also very compact and does not take up much space as it has a very small footprint and, because of its drive mechanism and the way it is powered, it can be installed practically anywhere in the home.
The most popular place the Trio Lift is installed is from the living room up into a main bedroom – but the lift is so versatile, that it can be positioned almost anywhere the customer requests.
